Tesla steps in to cover a $2,000 bill for a canceled pie order after Elon Musk’s intervention, showcasing the company’s commitment to customer satisfaction.
Tesla, the electric car company led by billionaire Elon Musk, has paid a California bakery $2,000 to cover the cost of a canceled pie order.

This happened after Musk himself was made aware of the problem and promised to take care of it. The Giving Pies bakery in San Jose, which has seen a boom in business since the incident, confirmed that Tesla paid the bill on Monday.
Tesla had originally ordered 2,000 mini-cakes from the bakery before the order was doubled. However, a representative from Musk’s company canceled the order at the last minute, just before the treats were to be shipped.
The bakery’s owner, Voahangy Rasetarinera, had previously spoken out about Tesla’s corporate culture, which she said favored convenience over responsibility and disregarded the livelihoods of small business owners like herself.
After Tesla CEO Musk learned of the incident through media reports, he promised to see to it that Rasetarinera was paid. “Just heard about it. Will fix the bakery thing,” Musk said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday. “You should always be able to count on Tesla to do its best.
“Rasetarinera later confirmed to the Guardian via email that Tesla had paid the $2,000 it was missing. The payment covered the cost of the ingredients the company had purchased to fulfill the canceled order. “If you’re a big company, $2,000 is peanuts, nothing,” Rasetarinera told KGO. “But for us, it’s a lot.”
Over the weekend, hundreds of customers lined up to order cake from the bakery as a show of support after the bakery’s harsh criticism of Tesla.
“Oh my God, it’s unbelievable,” Rasetarinera told NBC Bay Area. “I’m overwhelmed. I did not do this for this. I am so grateful. It’s amazing. People are amazing.” Although Tesla offered her a new catering proposal for a Women’s Day celebration in March, she declined.
