Tesla abruptly cancels a $16,000 cake order. Voahangy Rasetarinera is frustrated with the last-minute decision and the inconvenience.

A California bakery owner was left in the lurch by Tesla after the company canceled a $16,000 order of pies at the last minute.

Voahangy Rasetarinera, owner of The Giving Pies in San Jose, received the order for 4,000 pies on Valentine’s Day from a representative of the Elon Musk-led company.

The order was for a Black History Month event the following week. Rasetarinera sent Tesla a quote, which was approved by the company representative, but payment from Tesla’s suppliers never materialized.

Despite the lack of payment and a request to double the order, which Rasetarinera agreed to, she later received a text message from Tesla stating that the order was no longer needed.

This resulted in a loss of more than $16,000 for the small business, as Rasetarinera had already canceled other orders and purchased additional ingredients to fulfill the large order.

The situation raises questions about the business practices and responsibilities of companies when canceling orders.

Some users have commented that it is unwise to accept such an order without a deposit, noting that most consumable companies have a cancellation policy that requires the full amount to be paid shortly before delivery.
