In a harrowing incident in New Orleans, a vehicle struck and killed 21-year-old Anastasia Rayborn on Monday morning.
Anthony Cooper, 31, faces second-degree murder charges for allegedly hitting Rayborn with his Ford Edge SUV after a heated argument. According to Nola.com, citing court documents, the altercation escalated after Rayborn exited the vehicle and insulted Cooper.
Eyewitnesses reported that Cooper then accelerated the SUV “at a high rate of speed,” striking Rayborn and propelling her through the wall of a house, resulting in her fatal injuries.
The couple, who shared a 2-year-old child, had a tumultuous relationship, marked by contention and strife, as per family statements.
Initially investigated as a car accident, authorities later reclassified the incident as a homicide. Police arrested Cooper at the scene. Rayborn’s sister called her a “beautiful angel,” mourning the tragic loss and expressing deep anger towards Cooper.
