Renowned Ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas passes away at the age of 72
On Monday, February 26. February 2024, legendary Indian Ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas passed away at the age of 72 after a long battle with an illness.
Udhas, who was being treated at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, succumbed to cancer.
His family confirmed the sad news and expressed their deep sorrow in a statement on social media: “It is with a heavy heart that we share the sad news of the passing away of Padma Shri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024. February 2024 due to a prolonged illness.”
Pankaj Udhas, who was born on 17. He was born on May 17, 1951 in Jetpur, Saurashtra, Gujarat and gained popularity through his hit song “Chitthi Aayee Hai”.
In 2006, he was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honor, for his contributions to Indian music.
Udhas is also an active advocate for patients with thalassaemia, a genetic blood disorder characterized by abnormal hemoglobin production that leads to anemia and other complications.
