Jason Maser, 22, of Syosset, is accused of raping a 15-year-old girl on two different occasionshttps://t.co/V3z2wsHkTa
Maser held a coaching position at Sacred Heart Academy, an all-girls Catholic high school in Hempstead, and worked at B&B Volleyball Club, where the victim played. After the allegations surfaced, both institutions cut ties with Maser and barred him from their facilities and activities.
Prosecutors have charged Maser with two counts each of third-degree rape and criminal sexual act, along with endangering a child’s welfare. At his arraignment, the court set his bail at $75,000 and issued an order of protection.
The allegations have disturbed the local community, with many residents expressing shock and concern. They characterize the neighborhood as usually quiet and find the charges unexpected.
Detectives from the Special Victims Squad and Nassau County Crime Stoppers are calling on any other victims to report any abuse by Maser. They are actively investigating and acknowledge the potential for additional victims.
When contacted, Maser’s attorney chose not to comment on the case. The accused’s family is reportedly devastated and worried about the young woman involved. Maser is due back in court in April, where legal proceedings will continue.
