Paramedics discovered Isabella Willingham, 21, unresponsive with severe injuries and not breathing for 23 minutes in her Asbury University dorm.

The incident occurred on November 27, and emergency services rushed Willingham to the hospital for intensive care.

After hours without contact post-Thanksgiving, a distressing call from the dorm director alerted Willingham’s parents.

Paramedics told her parents that their daughter, Willingham, had not breathed for a long time. Her injuries included deep cuts and swollen legs, and she noticed her torn-off acrylic nails when she woke up in the hospital.

The Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the injuries and is investigating the circumstances that led to this alarming event. However, Willingham’s father has expressed frustration with the local police and the university.

He dismissed the police’s theory that his daughter’s injuries came from a bunk bed fall, insisting someone inflicted them.

The father criticized Asbury University for not promptly warning students about campus dangers and for not taking the incident seriously. He called for transparency and safety, urging the university to seek information from anyone who might know something. Although the university emailed Willingham’s dorm for tips, it did not contact the entire student body.

Months after the incident, the Willinghams still seek answers. The father, an Asbury alumnus, is disappointed with the school’s response. Asbury University claims the investigation is active and they’re cooperating with police, yet details remain scarce. The university reaffirms its dedication to campus safety.

Asbury University, with 1,900 students and 90% living on campus, is near the University of Kentucky. The investigation into the university’s response has sparked safety concerns.
